Digital Media Academy (DMA) was founded in 1999 on the campus of Stanford University to provide technology education to K12 teachers and develop technology immersion courses for students. Since then, DMA greatly expanded its technology education programs and operated in the most prestigious universities: Stanford University, Oxford University, NYU, UPenn, U Chicago, U Washington, UCLA, UC San Diego, UBC, U Toronto, and others.
DMA Story
- 1999 - Stanford University’s Academic Technology Department launches The Academy for New Media
- 2002 - The Academy for New Media becomes Digital Media Academy and spins out from Stanford
- 2008 - Digital Media Academy expands internationally into Canada and the UK 2014 - 25+ Locations, 100,000+ Students, 50+ Courses
- 2018 - New Ownership and a new Global Growth Strategy commence
- 2019 - Digital Media Academy for Schools launches
- 2020 - Digital Media Academy for Students is now offered globally online
- 2020 - Digital Media Academy for Partners begins with global licensees and operating partners

DMA courses are ISTE certified and provide students with an integrated technology education by merging 21st-century subjects so they can learn as a Pro!
Students will be able to choose from a variety of on-campus and online programs to discover their true passion and skills, learn from industry experts and master their skills with professional hardware and software.
DMA instructors are industry professionals using the most up to date hardware and software. They designed our curriculum to be project-based and hands on.
DMA chooses their Certified schools through a specific program that empowers every educator to deliver technology education into their classrooms enhancing existing curricula; ensuring learners are future-ready; and making the most of existing technology.

Founded by forward-thinking educators at Stanford University in 2002, DMA now is highly acclaimed for its tech summer camps held at the most prestigious university campuses in the US and around the world. Tech Camps are DMA's flagship learning experiences that have been developed and have been delivering by DMA for 20+ years. Each course is infused with hands-on, project-based learning, designed to equip students with 21st-century technology skills!

Ten years ago, Digital Media Academy began to offer its world-class STEAM camps at UBC.
